Out with the old, in the with new

Whew. The Holidays were quite a wonderful chance to...uh...get sick? I suppose my faerie wings could feel that a break was about to happen, so I came down with a terrible flu (I even had to go to the Emergency Room. Yikes!). To all those parents out there that have had a hard time finding me via telephone, I sincerely apologize. My voice has been replaced by a frog's and I hope to be all ready to speak over the phone again by tomorrow. If you need me, please find me by email, I am next to the computer all the time.

Speaking of the computer, I have taken this time to give our Faerie Page a little make-over, I hope you'll enjoy it! Take a peek if you like...

Ok, back to resting!

Meadow really knows how to charm!

Dear Faerie Fae,
I waited to send this note as I wanted to include some photos from the party including the under the table shot in which Faerie Meadow climbed under the table to take a photo with our daughter who was refusing to come out.
:). Having Faerie Meadow at the party was terrific. The children were engaged and had a great time! Our daughter still talks about the "princess faerie" at her party and we have heard stories from other parents of kids refusing to wash off their face paintings etc.
Thanks so much to Happily Ever Laughter and Faerie Meadow for making this a wonderful celebration!

Exhausted.

I woke up this morning dreaming of face painting. Again. I peeked at the alarm and tried to remember what time my first show was and realized...oh my! It is my first day not performing in a long time! I performed 7 times in the last 3 days, and I am one tired faerie. I flew all around the Bay Area and it is all a blur.

But then...the emails started coming in. Mommies and Daddies from all around starting filling up my inbox with beautiful notes about our performances this weekend, and I even got a picture of me with a fabulous little girl that I visited on Saturday!

Thank you, thank you...for giving me back my strength! *smile*

Melody...ah the Faerie Melody!

Hi Fae Diddle Diddle,

Miss Melody was great. She completely captivated my son, even this long after the party, he is still talking about her. As I put on my not-quite-so-nice faerie wings, he asks me my name and I think about it and he says, "Miss Melody!" She was definitely a big hit with my son and all the other guests as well. Thank you so much! I will recommend you til kingdom come.

Thanks!

Hooray for Belle!

Miss Belle started her weekend off flying with this wonderful praise that came into our inbox!

We really enjoyed having Miss Belle at our Daughter’s 1st Birthday party. Everyone loved her. She is really nice and easy to talk to. Her performance was truly magical, especially the way she engaged the children as well as the adult in participating in making the birthday girls present, very funny, made me laugh to see the kids puzzled and then realizing what they were making. From the moment she arrived to the moment she left she was a true fairy. I heard the kids saying that Miss Belle was going to fly away when she left. The kids ran outside to see if she was really going to fly away. :-) She did great face paintings and her balloons were done very well. Thank you very much Miss Belle for making my daughters birthday truly enchanting!

Another big weekend!

Hooray! For a second weekend in a row, our schedule has been completely full. Our Faeries, Elves, and Mermaids are swimming out to dozens of unique celebrations over the next couple of days.

You can find Miss Ember & Miss Belle at Macy's in Union Square on Saturday from 2-4pm (courtesy of Music Plus Events), and our Christmas Elf is popping in to several parties as well!

We will also be visiting a movie theater in Elk Grove for a private screening of the new Disney film (the lucky children will be greeted by Faerie Melody).

Another neat celebration has invited Miss Acorn to swim (or fly?) over as our Mermaid...with wings! It will be our first Faerie Mermaid celebration *laugh*.

Ok, well, I'm off to finish a costume and then start the big weekend!

Busy, busy, busy...

Well!

Our weekend was filled to the brim with celebrations around the entire Northern California area. Our Faeries were flying every direction possible, and were each performing 3-4 times each in two days! Wow. Some lovely notes have started to come back from the grown-ups already...here are a couple!

Thank you so much for sending Miss Jewels to Ava's party Sunday. We loved her. She came in and immediately asked Ava, "Do you want to see what I have in my bag?" Ava loved her after that. The kids loved her balloons. Ava's Auntie's and I really liked her face painting skills. :) To say the least we were very happy with our Faerie and we look forward to having Jewels come to Ava's party next year.
Thanks a million.

I hosted my Granddaughter's 4th Birthday party with several Friends and Family members in attendance. Fairy Daisy came as our entertainment. As soon as she arrived my Granddaughter stopped what she was doing and just stared for a moment and said "She is so Pretty!" She then ran to her and gave her a big hug and said Thank you for coming! Fairy Daisy's presence was enjoyed by all! Not only did the children enjoy her but, as I was looking around all the adults were smiling in enjoyment. Thank you so much Fairy Daisy and hope to work with you again soon! -- Livermore, CA, 12/5/2009

Praise for Faerie Lina!

I found this incredibly nice note from a mama in our inbox today...

I was very impressed with the service from Happily Ever Laughter! Miss Lina was very prompt and professional! She was extremely patient with each child as she did their face painting and balloon twists. They especially loved her magic show, even the adults were mesmerized. So many of the parents wanted her contact information and I too will certainly book them in the future! Thanks Miss Lina for making my daughter's 4th birthday so special.

Helping us remember every detail...

Photographers. What would be do without them? I am constantly running into photographers while performing, and sometimes wonder how their pictures turn out. Capturing a birthday party is quite the task, especially because they are normally just a couple of hours! You only have a tiny window of time to grab the best moments, and then...they're gone.

I met Sonya Yruel , a photographer, at a recent celebration that I performed at in the Bay Area. She really stuck in my mind after the event because of how well she blended in. She was always popping up at the right moment to snap the picture, yet I never felt like she was 'in the way'. On top of that incredible act, she also was constantly smiling and had a very calm feeling about her. The children acted completely at ease around her, which allowed her to capture some beautiful shots.

I asked if I could peek at some of the photos when she was done, and (I am quite the lucky Faerie!) she said yes!

Here are some pictures from that beautiful day in October when I performed as our Pink Princess...
Who says Princesses are just for Girls? Especially when we can catch bubbles!

Ah, my favorite. Face Painting!

I love that this picture is mostly the grown-ups...and look at their faces!

Meet the photographer...

Faerie Acorn

This week our Faerie, Miss Acorn, has received praise from every single performance that she has attended! It makes me the happiest Faerie to peek in our inbox and see such lovely letters.
Here are some that Acorn received this week...

"We had a great time at our daughter's party with the lovely fairy around. Miss Acorn was wonderful.. All the kids as well as big kids enjoyed the magic show equally :) Thank you sooo much. We will definitely call you again for our next party!!"

“Miss Acorn was an absolute delight! I have always had a fondness for fairies, but this one captivated the children and adults alike!! she was a pure pleasure to have at this function. None of the children wanted to go home!!”

"Acorn was very patient with the kids and the adults. She did not rush when it was getting time for 1 1/2 to end and I appreciated that. "

Macy's Invites Us Again!

Hooray! Miss Lina and Miss Melody visited Macy's in Sacramento last weekend, and we've been invited back! Macy's in San Francisco, at Union Square, has invited Miss Juniper & Miss Bunny for the 5th of December. You can meet them from 2pm to 4pm! They will be providing complimentary Face Painting and Balloon Twisting.

Miss Belle. Quite the Faerie!

Meet our new Faerie...Miss Belle. Ok...here I go, ok *taking a deep breath*.

Belle just received several scholarships, awards, and even the position of Valedictorian (GPA 4.56! I repeat, 4.56!) in the last couple of years at her human school. My, my. Aside from flying high in her academic career, she finds time to be a tutor through Project H.O.P.E. in Elk Grove.

Belle began her path to receiving her faerie wings a long time ago with her fantastic resume of Cheerleading (want to meet a bubbly Faerie? Meet Belle.), being Class President for 2 years in a row, and singing/dancing/acting all throughout high school.

The first day that I met Belle I look straight at her and saw that she was incredibly driven. Her gentle nature is a fabulous mask to her inner entertainer. She can go from a quiet, calm lady into a jumping, giggling Faerie in 2 seconds flat.

Meet our Sacramento Faeries!

Hooray! Miss Melody and Miss Lina are very excited about their brand new costumes (I got a little carried away again!). Melody and Lina are part of our Sacramento Faerie family, and you can now meet them on our Performers Page.

Saturday night activity

I just received a few new face painting books today, and after performing at 3 celebrations, I rewarded myself with some fun practice time! Thankfully our Tree house headquarters has a few children nearby that were willing to be transformed on this chilly Saturday night.

Party all week long!

I was invited over to celebrate with a beautiful little girl and her friends yesterday! It was a long flight from Santa Cruz to her home (faerie wings are strong, but they tend to bend a bit in the wind), but a birthday party on a Wednesday? I can't turn that down! Too fun!

Her mommy wrote me a very nice note too...here is a pinch of it for you to read, if you like!

Thank-you for your lovely visit yesterday. Everyone had a nice time, with much thanks to you. Some parents complimented your ability to paint faces in threes! The banjo was lovely, and you have a great beat. You're a beautiful person and maybe we'll see you again one day. Enclosing a few photos. Thank-you again.

Sacramento, thanks for the warm welcome!

We just strengthened our wings enough to fly over and perform in the far away land of Sacramento this month, and we have been greeted by many happy faces! We have been invited by several families and stores in the last few days to visit their celebrations this month. Hooray!

Miss Lina & Miss Melody (part of our Sacramento Faerie Family) can be seen this Saturday at Macy's downtown Sacramento (414 K Street) as part of Macy's Customer Shopping Day. They will be there with their brand new Faerie dresses (I have *just* finished them...expect pictures next week!) and offering complementary face painting and balloon twisting from 2pm to 4pm.

Thank you Sacramento!

A note to Miss Jewels

Hi Fae,
Just wanted to let you know that we absolutely loved Jewels! She was great with the kids. balloons were a hit, face painting was amazing, and most of all the magic show she put on kept the attention of all the kids - aged 2-5!
Even the adults got quite into it, and many of them told me how great they thought she was. I will definitely recommend her (and Happily Ever Laughter) to others!
Thank you

Ring the Bells! Sound the Horns!

Each month we receive dozens of requests to perform in cities that are in a far away land for us Bay Area faeries. Finally, after months of preparing, we are officially beginning performances in the Sacramento area! Our Sacramento family of Faeries are looking forward to flying into celebrations all over the valley and foothills of California. Check back soon for new photos of our fabulous new Faeries!

The fairest of them all...

Fae Diddle Diddle spends most of her days answering the phones and emails, as well as creating all of our costumes and Faerie trainings. On top of all of that, she is the sole creator of our web page! Each day Fae spends a little time changing things, from taking new photos to re-vamping entire sections. Our Characters Page just received a major face lift, as well as our Princess Page!

Happily Ever Laughter is very proud to offer a different view of a Princess. These days, our children are encouraged to believe that a princess comes from Disneyland (which is very magical, indeed), but it draws away from the classic Princess idea. Our Princesses are fancy, inspiring, and...unique!

Fae's favorite thing to ask a child when having their face painted like a princess is, "What color would you like your Princess dress to be? Shall we have her look just like you? Or maybe even Pink hair? Anything you chose will look as Princessy as can be!".

Halloween...

We are getting ready for Halloween over here...and so was one of my favorite people...um...I mean, puppies! This fabulous 5 year old is lucky enough to know a Faerie in real life (she lives near our Tree House), so she asked for some of our skills to get her ready for Halloween this year. This was her test run with her face painting design (she liked it, except for when she dribbled water down her chin and the tongue started to wash away) *laugh*.

We are almost completely booked for Halloween this year (thank you!) and our faeries will be helping hundreds of children compete their costumes this year with our face painting! Hooray!

Faerie Jewels's Favorite

Miss Faerie Jewels painted hundreds of faces this past weekend (and twisted so many balloons her hands started to tingle!), and took a quick picture of one of her favorites. Great job, Jewels!

Pirate Nixie does it again!

Here is another fabulous note after Miss Nixie's appearance at a celebration this past weekend....

"Just a note to say a very big thank you to your beautiful Gentle Pirate Nixie. She had the kids mesmerized at our party and everyone loved her very much! Her show was just wonderful especially her cute puppets.

And thanks again for the brilliant faerie organization with your talented faerie team - you are truly recommended!

Oh & here is a pic from the party too - when Pirate Nixie had to leave my son Ashwin gave her a big hug to say thank you!"

Your Stage Toys invited us to perform again!

(A happy face from one of our past performances at Your Stage Toys)

Next weekend (October 17th), Miss Maple will be performing at Your Stage Toys in Pleasanton, Ca. We have been incredibly lucky and this will be our third time performing in their adorable little toy store. They often feature children's entertainers, musical groups, and puppetry on their real stage in the rear of the store. Miss Maple will be sailing over as our Pirate Character to perform her Magic Show, paint faces with our Sparkling Face Paints, and twist her Colorful Balloons for everyone!

Things we love...

Lots of parents ask me for help with their decorations and planning of their child's celebration. There so many ways to be creative about the big day. Here are some beautiful lights that would brighten up any party (especially for a Faerie theme!). Want to be even more creative? Buy your own lights (any color!) and make them yourself (buy flower tape and some fabric...cut out some leaf shapes and you are good to go!).

I once spend days making 10,000 of these (yes, you read right, 10,000 lights) for a gathering in my own home. I wanted them to spread out from a huge tree in our backyard over my guests. It looked beautiful.

Funniest Praise Yet

Faerie Nixie is always receiving the nicest letters from grown-ups after her celebrations...but this particular note had us laughing super hard!

"I just wanted to send a quick email to say thanks ever so much to Nixie for helping us have a great party. The kids loved her...even the older ones who thought it might be geared too much towards the little guys. One little fellow was so entranced that he literally pee's himself because he didn't want to tear himself away from the puppet show...c'est la vie. We are also excited as our friends have hired you to provide for their daughter birthday next weekend! My older daughter can't wait to meet a real mermaid. : )"

A True Faerie Godmother

Etsy.com lovers may already know of her, and we have been a big fan of her for a long time.

Fairy Nana, an incredible bringer of hope to children battling a variety of illnesses, has finally completed her goal of creating 50 fairy costumes for children in need. Fairy Nana herself is suffering from her own sicknesses, but they don't stop her from completing costume after costume.

Each sale goes to creating more magic for children in need. We have purchased as many things as we can from Fairy Nana to add to her cause...and perhaps for this Halloween Season, you may find some joy in her work as well.

Our own Faerie, Faerie Jewels, wears a costume created by Fairy Nana herself (photos to come soon).

Peek at this video clip of Nana in the news...

Arrrrggg matey...

Lots of grown-ups peek at our web page and notice that many of our characters are aimed toward the lovers of pink and sparkles. However, each one of our activities are meant to fully engage little gentlemen as well. Match the activities with our Pirate, Circus Girl, or Sorceress characters and we are all ready for a more 'boy' themed celebration!

Our Pirate Character (played by Miss Fae in the photo) has been a popular choice this year. She arrives wearing her elaborate attire of leather belts, corsets, and layered skirts... but she leaves the familiar 'scary' Pirate persona at the harbor. Our Pirates are as gentle as they come. *smile*

Welcome, Bunny!

Meet Miss Bunny, the newest Faerie here at Happily Ever Laughter. She has been practicing for weeks, and she will begin to visit celebrations in October! Bunny flew in from Santa Cruz, Ca, but now rests her head near Oakland.

Aside from the normal set of skills that each of our faeries have (a large background in nannying and teaching at schools/daycares etc), Bunny is also a circus performer! She spends hours learning aerial dance (click here to find out more about what that is!), and performing as a Living Statue (*laugh*, if that is new to you too...check out what a Living Statue is!).

To learn more about Bunny, visit her profile on our web page.

Faerie Nixie, a very popular girl!

Our Faerie, Miss Nixie, has been a delight for many families...and I just had to post her latest review...it was the sweetest thing!

"Nixie Necturine was the epitome of a fairy. We all LOVED HER!
She was genuinely graceful, beautiful and always caring of the kids and attentive to there needs/wants! Thank you! I have at least three people who want Nixie Necturine at their parties."

Our Newest Faerie Gets Rave Reviews!

Miss Faerie Meadow started her life here at Happily Ever Laughter this week with outstanding reviews from a client that has already seen us perform in the past. Congratulations, Meadow! Miss Meadow performed at Your Stage Toys in Pleasanton, Ca. The owner sent us this little message...

"Hi Faerie Meadow -

I wanted to send you a quick thank you for giving us such a wonderful show today. We really enjoyed it. The children were laughing and smiling the entire time and I had several parents come up to me to let me know how much they enjoyed the time they spent with you. It was great seeing so many children leave the store with beautiful face and arm paintings. Those who left with balloons were thrilled as well. Thank you again...I know this was your first solo flight, but honestly no one knew. You were simply delightful, professional and a treat to have in the store. We look forward to your next visit. "

Our weekend ended on a high note!

This morning I woke up and (as always) toddled straight over to the computer. Life as a faerie is centered around answering hundreds of emails and phone calls, and I can't even let a night go by without the inbox filling up. Typically, when I sit down to answer emails, I am thinking they will be more of the same...inquiries, follow up conversations, shipping confirmations (you'd be surprised at all the crazy things we order through the mail each week! Our post lady loves delivering our packages *laugh*)...but this morning was different! I received the most lovely praise from a grown-up on Yelp.com. She spent so much time in writing such a lovely review...it actually made me cry. Thank you so much Palo Alto mama!

Yelp likes to delete postings after awhile, so I'll list it here for you.

The smartest thing I've done for a birthday party was to hire Fae!

This company and their characters are unlike any other and the children were completely captivated for 90 minutes!!! On a scale of 1 to 10, the children at my daughter's party (and the parents) gave her a 11.

Here's what different about happily ever laughter:
1) The quality of the character/acting/entertainment. These are NOT your
hokie disney types, but more like magical creatures that come to life . Centaur, mermaids, fairies and more! Hard to describe so I suggest watching the videos on her web site to get a better idea.

2) YOU get to pick age appropriate
activies and customize with an easy to price/select web site. All of it can be done on-line. What you see on the web site is what you get. So hassle free and worry free. I couldn't do this with the other folks popular around here. Their web site was not designed for this.

3) Here's my favorite part, this company was at least $100 less than the cost of other bay area children's entertainers. I checked daffy you know who and so and so
barry you know what and joe smith the musician (I've attended his performances and we were all so uninterested).

4) She's
stunningingly beautiful in the mermaid costume, all of it handmade! Our crowd ranged from 0-3 mostly with a few in the 6-8 range and they all sat still for an hour!

What she's not
1) The other 3 well known party entertainers in the
Palo Alto are older men that I know my group of young girls would not be comfortable around. Personally, I found them awkward and my husband found them to be too old and sorry to use this word but too creepy for our crowd.

2) Nickle and dime, charge you for extras. Our agreement was for 3 activities and when there was extra time, Fae threw in a 4
th activity, for FREE.

Meet our new Faerie!

Welcome Miss Faerie Ember! Miss Ember flew into our Faerie Family from a fabulous world of entertaining. She is a current member of Santa Cruz's local Fire Troupe, Nocturnal Sunshine, where she spins, dances with, and yes...eats fire! Her list of skills goes on and on...from aerial dancing (have you seen those dancers that fall from the ceiling in long pieces of fabric? Yup. That's her), stilt walking, ballroom dancing *smile*, and just general clowning around.

We especially enjoy her silly facial expressions and playful attitude...which fits right in with our niche of entertainment!

Miss Ember will be part of our 'on call' Faerie cast due to her extreamly busy fire dancing schedule, so if you would like to specifically meet her, let us know far in advance! *laugh*

Huge weekend...

Wow! This weekend was huge for us over here! Fae Diddle Diddle (not to mention the rest of our faeiry family...they each performed over 3 times in two days!) personally flew 350 miles, visited 6 celebrations, painted over 200 children's (and grown-ups!) faces, and twisted 250+ balloons...all in less than 48 hours. Phew!

This morning I woke up to find the most lovely emails in our email box about the big weekend (and a couple photos! I just love it when that happens!).

Here is a glimpse at one of the lovely emails that I received today about our big weekend...

Dear Fairy Fae,
Thank you very much for making my daughter Natalia's 3rd birthday party so special! All of her friends were delighted by your presence and all of us parents were marveled by your talent. More than one of my friends commented on your natural "fairy" way, your grace, and how we were all drawn to watch you interact with our children. I will highly recommend you to anyone who appreciates art, uniqueness, grace, and natural beauty.
No doubt that I will see you in another of Natalia's birthday parties.
Thank you so so much!!

What a weekend!

Our weekend was filled with all sorts of red, white, and blue fun! We painted firework after sparkly firework at Fry's Electronics all day long, Fae flew into Your Stage Toys in Pleasanton, and our newest Mermaid costume was worn for the first time at a birthday celebration in the Watsonville area. Hurray! Our Mermaid (played by Miss Thimbleberry) was able to grab a quick photo of herself before she swam into her show...

Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Grown-ups say the nicest things...

Today Miss Fae Diddle Diddle visited St. Veronica's School in Daly City and received the most lovely note when she returned to her Tree House from the teacher...

Dear Fae,

Thanks so much for the beautiful designs our Pirate painted for the children. All the kids loved the pirate! I have received several inquires from parents about the beautiful face painting. I have passed along your website and high praise for your fantastic work. You made 36 kids very happy today!
Thank You!

Faeries Unite!

It isn't often that we get the whole gang together...but last Sunday's Happily Ever Laughter BBQ ended in more giggles than any of us bargined for.  We spent the late afternoon (after a full day of performing!) flying around our treehouse headquarters and took a picture of us...just for you!

Oregon Country Fair invites Fae Diddle Diddle!

Hip, hip...hooray!

Fae Diddle Diddle has been invited to perform at the Oregon Country Fair on their Youth Stage! This unique and exciting opportunity is sought after by many performers all over the country...and we are ever grateful for the invitation!

Portola Valley Schools Foundation Holds Gala

Many moons ago we met a fabulous mommy who invited us over to her home for Halloween night. One of our performers, Miss Faerie Nixie, was invited to hand out candy to the neighborhood and add her sparkle to the magical night.  A few months later, we crossed paths again when she invited me to perform at her son's birthday celebration as our Silly Circus Girl! We were very honored to visit her family twice...and then she asked us if we only perform for children's events.  She had a celebration in mind that would require us to put our thinking caps on!

She invited us to a very special Gala held at the Cabana Hotel in Palo Alto on May 16th, 2009.  Hundreds of mommies, daddies, and friends gathered together to raise money for Portola Valley Schools with live auctions and a beautiful dinner.  Happily Ever Laughter was invited to bring their theme to life...The Emerald City!

After several hours, and many rhinestones later, I finished a Good Witch gown and Miss Faerie Maple finished her Ruby Red Slippers.  We entered the Gala as Glinda and Dorothy and entertained the guests for 3 hours! Dorothy (Miss Maple) was quite sad to auction off 'Toto', a beautiful Labradoodle that she had cared for the entire evening.  *smile*

It was such a lovely way to spend an evening after a big day of balloon twisting and face painting.  We were able to be completley royal, play completely different characters from our Children's Parties, and find out that...yes! we absolutely make even the grown-ups smile!

Stay tuned for photos!

Happily Ever Laughter Parties...I would like you to meet the internet...

After 4 years of delighting thousands of children at celebrations of all kinds, Happily Ever Laughter has decided to give a behind the scenes peek of what is on our mind when we aren't twisting balloons or spreading glitter. *smile*

Let me introduce myself.  Hello! (Well, more like 'Heeellloo' with a Faerie voice) My name is Fae Diddle Diddle and I am the founding Faerie of Happily Ever Laughter Parties.  The inspiration for starting Happily Ever Laughter came when I discovered that all the characters provided at Children's Parties were the same characters on the lunch boxes, TV, and movie screens.  I want to remind children that they don't all have to be the same princess, the same Snow White or Cinderella, but their own unique view on what a princess or any imaginary character could be.

I understand that each child is different, and that is why our characters are different.  Our clowns don't have red noses or scary wigs, and our princesses don't look like Sleeping Beauty. They are the characters from my own imagination.
